9:30 – 11:00  Guest Speakers

o    Student Guest Speaker:   Calvin W. - “ Service Learning Changed My Life”

o    Motivational Guest Speaker:   Deb Perryman –Illinois 2005 Teacher of the Year

o    ‘The Center’:   Mike Mangan – Future Service Learning training and workshops  

               

11:00 – 12:30 Breakout Roundtable Presentations/Discussions

~~Sharing the ‘Nuts and Bolts’ of Service Learning~~

o    Practical information and discussions presented/facilitated by teachers and students who have implemented Service Learning in various curriculum and academic areas and topics

o    Interactive, informal discussions to share ideas, problem solving, special students participation, offer supportive advice, networking and collaboration, generate ideas for curriculum development, share strategies for implementing service learning, student leadership issues, community partners, etc.

o    Breakout sessions for students only, adults only and students/adults combined

(Specific roundtable breakout session topics will be sent the last week of February)

12:30 – 1:30 Lunch and ‘Brainstorming Session’

o    Lunch Provided!

o    Brainstorm with other teachers, coordinators and students, ideas and strategies for improving Service Learning at your school, community, school district or within Illinois

o    How can more schools, districts and community agencies become involved in Service Learning?

o    What can ISBE and the State do to help support schools implement Service Learning?

 

1:30 – “Schools of Support –Collaboration and Communication”

o    What have we learned today? How can we improve or change Service Learning tomorrow?
