SUGGESTED SERVICE LEARNING ACTIVITIES

FUND RAISING ACTIVITES

• Penny collection -Work together for a common fund raiser in each school
• Fund raiser to purchase Malaria nets
• Fund raiser for cancer research
• Fund raiser for an indoor playground

VOLUNTEER

• Volunteer at animal shelters
• Volunteer at nursing homes
• Entertain, sing, play musical instruments for Seniors and Nursing Homes
• Volunteer to work with special education students

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

• Visit childrens hospitals – read, entertain them
• Support for Soldiers – books, food, letters,etc
• Help out homebound Senior Citizens
• Provide letters and gifts to Hospice residents
• Adopt a family
• Make meals for PADS
• Playground restoration

EDUCATION/ WORKSHOPS/ SEMINARS

• Teach others about SL i.e.teach younger students and teachers
• Tutor students in reading
• Sponsor a service learning fair
• Education seminars pertaining to the importance of staying in school
• Develop a sports program for youth
• Education about energy saving

ENVIRONMENT

• Formulate carpool program
• Forest preserve clean-up

COLLECTIONS/DRIVES

• Collect gently used sports equipment
• Collect school uniforms, books, etc for students in need
• Coat drive
• Provide birthday and Holiday gifts for those in need
• Book drive and tutor program

OTHER

• Participate in ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation
